Resource of the Week #35: Many Posts about Posters
Hello again. This week I learned of a blog entirely about poster presentations. It now is our latest Resource of the Week.
Titled Better Posters: A Resource for Improving Poster Presentations, this blog currently includes about 200 posts, dating back to 2009. To find the blog archive, scroll down to the lower right section of the page.
The blog is by Zen Faulkes, PhD, a faculty member at The University of Texas-Pan American. Dr. Faulkes teaches courses in both biology and biological writing.
The description on the blog states:
Academics use posters to present research, but their posters are often ugly, with tiny text, confusing layouts, and dubious colour schemes. Better Posters is about making posters informative and beautiful.
Better Posters has included posts on many aspects of the topic. The posts include
- a post introducing the blog
- a post on using “entry points” to attract viewers to posters
- a checklist for evaluating one’s posters
- multiple posts presenting critiques of posters
- many posts on other aspects of posters, including design and layout, color, graphics, text, typefaces, and much more
Helpfully, many of the posts include examples of posters.
Until the next post— Barbara
