A Warm Farewell to AuthorAID Director Julie Walker
Greetings again. I hope that all is going well for you.
One thing I enjoy about working with AuthorAID is the chance to work with the rest of the AuthorAID project team. This team has long been headed by Julie Walker, a programme manager at INASP. Julie (who is shown in the photo) has directed AuthorAID since 2007, the year that it began.
Recently I learned that Julie will leave INASP the middle of this month. Happily, Julie and Shaun and their son can now live near family members. But sadly, Julie’s departure means that she is leaving the AuthorAID project team.
Julie has brought much to AuthorAID. Her international experience, publishing background, and communication skills all have contributed to her success as director of AuthorAID. AuthorAID’s substantial growth and development reflect the fine quality of her leadership.
Like AuthorAID, the AuthorAID team has grown and evolved over the years. With Julie’s departure, team member Andy Nobes will take a larger role. In addition, a search for a new programme manager is underway. Once the search is complete, I look forward to writing a post introducing the new head of the AuthorAID project team.
Although Julie and I reside on opposite sides of the ocean and communicate mainly by email, I will miss working with her. It’s hard to believe that we’ve been collaborating for almost nine years.
Please join me in thanking Julie for all she has brought to AuthorAID and in wishing her all the best. You can do so by posting a comment below or by sending a message to Julie at jwalker@inasp.info.
Until the next post—
Barbara
