Short Course: The CODATA-RDA School of Research Data Science

By Faaria Hussain | Apr. 08, 2016

Closing date for applications: 18th April 2016

The ever-increasing volume and variety of data being generated is having a huge impact on a wide variety of research disciplines, from the sciences to the humanities. The international, collective ability to create, share and analyse vast quantities of data is having a profound, transformative effect. This 'Data Revolution' offers great opportunities for students with modern data skills, both in conducting their research and in entering a jobs market where those skills are in demand.

The CODATA/RDA Summer School in Research Data Science is about teaching early-career researchers the necessary introductory skills to make use of Data Science. This school will enable its students to be more effective and efficient researchers as they learn how to make the most of their data and what is available in the public domain. It will also demonstrate how they can raise their profile through data publishing and the effective use of digital identifiers and repositories.

The school will run from August 1-12 2016 at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy. It is open to all researchers who have to work with data. Funding is available to support students.  Women are particularly encouraged to apply.
