- Biography:
- Anywar Godwin holds a PhD as a CARTA/DAAD fellow from Makerere University, the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology and the Institute for Virology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Leipzig, Germany. He currently lectures at the Department of Plant Sciences, Microbiology & Biotechnology at Makerere University and is a Research Associate at the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine, Hamburg, Germany. He is a fellow of the: Global Young Academy, African Studies Association, Africa Science Leadership Programme and the Uganda National Academy of Sciences. He is a member of several professional bodies, and winner of several international and local awards. He is the vice president of the Natural Products Network for Eastern & Central Africa, Uganda Chapter (NAPRECA) and the Uganda Textbook Academic & Non-Fiction Authors Association (UTANA). He has authored over 100 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and is an editor with: (i) BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies (Springer Nature), (ii) Plos One, (ii) Frontiers in Pharmacology (iv) Discover Molecules (Springer Nature) His research interests are in Complementary & Alternative Medicine, ethnobotany/ethnopharmacology, Botany, pharmacognosy, Indigenous traditional Knowledge.
