Biography:
Dr. Caleb Otu-Ansah, BSc., MBChB, MWACP (Psych); is an early career researcher and psychiatrist (currently the youngest promising psychiatrist in the West African Sub-region) passionate about research and innovation; especially in; Child and Adolescent Neuropsychology, neurocognitive development and psychometrics, in which areas he is pursuing further Postgraduate studies. He participated as one of the team leaders (in May/June 2022) of PAG’s (Psychiatric Association of Ghana) qualitative data collection, and provision of Psychosocial assessment and support for victims, especially young people, of a massive fire (dynamite) explosion disaster in a town in Ghana, Apeatse. He is member of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMH) Steering Group of PAG, as well as serves on the Technical Committee for the planning and implementation of a Treatment and Rehabilitation Programme, by a Christian organization (Church of Pentecost); with special interests in affected young people. As the head of Research and Innovation Committee of the Psychiatry Department of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) where practices as a specialist, he (among other trailblazing initiatives) functions as a facilitator and Board Member for the AuthorAid Ghana (research training & mentorship hub) started through a grant sponsorship by AuthorAid INASP (Global). He has some publications to his credit, with more others under review/ pending. He has delivered scientific presentations at international conferences like 2022 Annual General and Scientific Meeting of the West Africa College of Physicians (WACP), was a member of the Organizing Committee of PAG’s maiden AGSM in 2021, and a member of the LOC (Local Organizing Committee) of WACP - Ghana Chapter’s upcoming 2023 AGSM . He also practises part-time as a Psychiatrist at University Hospital, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and enjoys outreaches, especially to young people in under-served areas He loves to worship with the Saxophone and engage in Faith/Science interplays/interactions his free time.
