Introduction to Gender Responsive Research and Open Data - module for researchers in East Africa
This module is part of the Digital Hub for Open Research in East Africa, a learning and community programme tailored for early-career researchers from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda who want to make their work more collaborative, inclusive, and impactful through open research practices.
Introduction to Gender Responsive Research and Open Data focuses on integrating gender into research design and methodology. Over four weeks, participants will learn to:
-
Appreciate the importance of integrating gender into research design and methodology
-
Apply a gender lens to their research design
-
Identify actions to make each stage of research more gender responsive
The module includes readings, interactive activities, discussion prompts, and opportunities for reflection, along with a live session towards the end where participants can meet facilitators and peers.
To complete the module, participants must engage with all required resources and activities, as well as the pre-module and feedback surveys. Those who also complete the optional final assignment will be eligible for a merit certificate.
Facilitators will be active in the discussion forums, supporting participants to share experiences, ask questions, and connect with one another.
