The session will incorporate a brief lecture, a hands-on demo, questions and answers, and a discussion on how participants apply the techniques to their day-to-day qualitative research projects.

- Strategies for sampling in qualitative research
- Validity & reliability in qualitative analysis
- Step-by-step data analysis processes
- Introduction to both manual and digital tools for qualitative coding and interpretation.

About the Facilitator:

Md. Alamgir Hossain is a qualitative researcher with over a decade of experience in medical anthropology and public health. His expertise includes maternal and child health, gender, mental health, and digital health. He holds an MPH in Epidemiology and an MSS in Anthropology. Currently based at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b), he leads fieldwork planning, trains new researchers, and contributes to project design, data analysis, and academic publication. With over ten journal publications, Alamgir is a dedicated mentor and collaborator focused on multidisciplinary, community-centred health research.

About the Moderator:

Ugochi Felicitas Oputa-Uzoukwu is an early-career researcher with a background in Mass Communication and an MSc in Social Research from the University of Hull, UK. She has experience in qualitative and quantitative methods, including focus groups, interviews, ethnography, and thematic analysis using NVivo. Her work spans global health, maternal and child wellbeing, social justice, and trauma-informed research. A member of the UK’s Social Research Association (SRA), she is committed to community engagement and supporting the development of young people and marginalised groups.
