Biography:
Dr. Mutangana Dieudonne is a senior Lecturer at University of Rwanda (UR) College of Science and Technology, School of Science. He obtained his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Jain University (India), a Master of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Xiamen University, P.R China, and a BSc of Biology-Chemistry-Education from Kigali Institute of Education. Mutangana has started his teaching career back in 2005 as a teacher of both Biology and Chemistry at Groupe Scolaire St Aloys Rwamagana. At the completion of his MSc, he joined the former Kigali Institute of Science and Technology in 2011 and embarked to PhD training program which was completed in 2015. After merger of KIST to UR, Mutangana has been promoted from assistant lecturer to Lecturer in 2016, and further to Senior Lecturer in 2021. Along with teaching activities, Mutangana has been served as acting Head of Department since 2017 and Head of Department since July 2021 to present. As an academician, Mutangana is interested in research with focus in the field of Bioinformatics that involve NGS raw sequence analysis including RNA Seq, genome assembly and variant calling, Biomolecule sequence analysis, Protein 3D structure prediction, Protein-Protein, and Protein-Ligand interactions prediction, Molecular docking and Molecular Dynamics Simulation. Mutangana has been involved in Biology Education and has supervised two PhD research projects under education sector. In line with community outreach, Mutangana is a member of the Scientific Advisory Group (SAG) under Rwanda National Task Team as Bioinformatician, for SARS-CoV-2 sequence analysis using Bioinformatics tools. He is also an activist of Human rights within the civil society platform and holds a position of Secretary General of The National Paralympic Committee of Rwanda (NPC Rwanda) and the Secretary General of National Union of Disabilities’ Organizations in Rwanda (NUDOR).
