A Qualitative-Research Resource (etc)
Greetings again. I hope that all is going well for you.
We’ve already received many applications for the AuthorAID grant to attend the Intensive Course in Research Writing. I think the selection committee will have a difficult decision.
If you’d like to apply for the grant but you haven’t yet done so, please note that the deadline is 11:59 p.m. UK time on 18 January 2011. All applications should be e-mailed to authoraid@inasp.info.

Some AuthorAID members have requested more resources on social-science research methods—especially methods for qualitative research. This week one of my graduate students told me about such a resource.
This resource, called “Online QDA: Learning Qualitative Data Analysis on the Web”, includes texts, case studies, videos, resource lists, and more. It also has links to glossaries, and it discusses software that can aid in qualitative data analysis.
My student, who is starting to code interview material for her thesis, liked the section “How and What to Code”. In addition to text, this section contains links to exercises and to videos.
I thank the graduate student who told me about this resource. If you have resources to suggest, please mention them by posting a comment.

Finally: I hope that many of you have completed the recently posted AuthorAID survey. If you haven’t yet done so, please do so soon. Your responses help us make AuthorAID more useful to you.
Wishing you an excellent week— Barbara
