Biografía:

Basant Giri received BSc and MSc degrees in chemistry from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal, a second MS degree in chemistry from the Oregon State University, Corvallis, USA, and a PhD degree in chemistry from the University of Wyoming, Laramie, USA. He is co-founder of Kathmandu Institute of Applied Sciences (KIAS) and currently works as a scientist and director of international relations at KIAS. Dr. Giri is also the co-founder and chairperson of community-based rainfall measurement (CORAM) program, a citizen science project in Nepal. His research interests include development of low-cost analytical devices for biological and environmental applications and science policy. International Foundation for Science, Sweden, The World Academy of Science, Italy, and National Science Foundation, USA have funded his research works in Nepal. He has several years of teaching experience at high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels in Nepal and USA as a faculty and teaching assistant, respectively. Dr. Giri has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed research articles and two books. The latest book is "Laboratory methods in microfluidics" published by Elsevier.
