- Biografía:
- Dr. Cynthia Schuck-Paim has a Ph.D. from Oxford University (Zoology/Evolution) and two postdocs, one at Oxford, and another (Brazil) on the evolution of advanced cognition and the conditions for its emergence. I also have a master's degree in Ecology and a BSc in Life Sciences. She was the co-founder and scientific director of Origem Scientifica (2005-2017), a consulting company in the field of global health and data analysis in the life sciences (http://www.origemscientifica.com). She also has a background in scientific capacity building, with hundreds of hours of lectures on data analysis and scientific methods taught to researchers in the health and life sciences at universities and research institutes in Brazil and abroad. She is currently working on the development of metrics of welfare based on disease and disability inventories, with a focus on improving decision- and policy-making on issues regarding animal and human welfare.
