- Biografía:
- Salem Hannoun joined the Faculty of Health Sciences as an Assistant Professor in August 2020 and is serving as Coordinator of the Medical Imaging Sciences (MIS) Program. Salem received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering in February 2011 from the Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University (UCBL1) in Lyon, France. He also holds a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering (option: Imaging) from UCBL1 (in 2007), and a bachelor’s degree in biology from the Saint-Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon (in 2005). Following his PhD, he was appointed in 2011 as a research engineer at the French Observatory of Multiple Sclerosis (OFSEP). His work focused on standardizing the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) protocol for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) patients in all French imaging centers, as well as optimizing images quality and processing techniques. He was then recruited as a Research Associate at the Nehme and Therese Tohme Multiple Sclerosis Center in the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) after moving back to Lebanon in April 2016. Salem specializes in MRI data acquisition, management and processing in MS, and several other neurological disorders (such as Ataxia and Apraxia, Epilepsy, Autism…). He authored over 50 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and has over 60 contributions in national and international scientific meetings. Salem Hannoun is on the editorial board of Frontiers in Neurology (Applied Neuroimaging) and Frontiers in Neuroscience (Brain Imaging Methods) journals.
