Biografía:

Public health dreamer; experienced in clinical trials and epidemiological studies (love mentoring). Passionate about Bengali Folk Music and interested in Pastoral Philosophy based Health and Well-being Interventions! Dr Md Arifuzzaman Khan is a PhD student in the Faculty of Medicine at The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia. He has been awarded by Research Training Program Scholarship (Commonwealth Government) and UQ Graduate School Scholarships for supporting his PhD study in UQ. He is carrying out his PhD research at the Central Queensland Public Health Unit (CQPHU) with additional Research Higher Degree Top-up Scholarship support from the collaborating research grant between UQ School of Public Health and CQPHU. He has been supporting the CQPHU team as a senior epidemiologist besides. He also works as a Research Mentor for Research Ready Grant Program (RRGP), 2019 and a Research Facilitator for RRGP 2020 in CQ Health, Australia. Also, Dr Khan voluntarily supports the Asian Institute of Diseases and Development as a physician scientist and School of Public Health in University of South Asia as an adjunct faculty in Bangladesh. Dr Khan is a Bangladeshi medical doctor (MBBS) and had training in Infectious Diseases and Pediatrics. Before for commencing his PhD, he gained eight years of first-hand research experiences from icddr,b (a renowned international public health research institute based in Bangladesh). In icddr,b, Dr Khan conducted several Randomised Control Trials (RCTs), cohort studies including a large cohort of more than 100,000 people from urban slum areas, immunological studies of natural infections and Phase I, II and III vaccine trials. He has co-authored publications of original research articles in top-rated and high impact journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet and The Lancet Infectious Diseases. He is familiar with research governance; collaboration ranges from national and international professional bodies, e.g. WHO, icddr,b, PATH, Oxford University, The University of Sydney, NCRIS, Australia and Cambridge University. He is a professional member of The Global Health Network, EpiCore (a sizeable virtual community for infectious disease outbreaks), American Society of Microbiology and Society for Research in Nicotine and Tobacco. Dr Khan is an internationally certified Good Clinical Practice trainer, an invited review author of Cochrane (Cochrane Infectious Diseases Research Group). Current research interests are: Preventable causes of diseases and disabilities; Vaccine-preventable diseases and diseases due to tobacco consumption, Epidemiology and immunology of infectious diseases and RCTs/Non-RCTs for evaluation of any health intervention or health promotion program particularly in Rural or regional areas.
