Biografía:
Elizabeth Ochola completed her Ph.D. in Geography (Health) from the University of Waterloo. She was one of the recipients of the Queen Elizabeth Scholarships (QEScholar). Her research examined the impact of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) on the health and wellbeing of populations living in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The research was part of an extensive study named the Global Index of Wellbeing (GLOWING), which aimed to develop and implement a sustainable measure of wellbeing for use in research and decision-making processes. Elizabeth is trained in both laboratory and social sciences and is keen on applying an interdisciplinary lens when solving global challenges. Prior to her Ph.D. studies, Elizabeth worked as a Research Officer at the Centre for Global Health Research of the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) in Kisumu, Kenya, where she was involved in project management and implementation of Mass Drug Administration (MDA) programs for vulnerable communities infected with NTDs around the Lake Victoria basin. Besides her studies and research, Elizabeth organizes mentorship activities for adolescents, youths, and persons living with disabilities in her local community.
