Biografía:: Dr. Janet Antwi is Assistant Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Department of Agriculture, Nutrition and Human Ecology at Prairie View A&M University, Texas. As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist professional for the past 5 years she is committed to motivating and assisting people make well-informed health conscious decisions about their diet and lifestyle changes. She also has in total over 10 years of experience as a pharmacist, community facilitator, and HIV/AIDS medicine adherence counselor with a passion for teaching, and undertaking research in both domestic and international settings. Her major research emphasis is nutrition for intervention in chronic diseases prevention and management – such as nutrition and physical activity in obesity, type 2 diabetes and inflammation-related response disorders; malnutrition and food insecurity; impact of nutrition and bioactive compounds on HIV disease progression, all in low-income populations and underserved communities. She holds a bachelor’s in Pharmacy from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Ghana), master’s in International Healthcare Management Economics and Policy from SDA Bocconi School of Management (MIHMEP, Italy) and Doctor of Philosophy in Nutrition and Dietetics from Florida International University (FIU, USA). She has been a recipient of scholarships and awards including a MIHMEP Alumni Fund and Cariplo Foundation Scholarship, conference scholarship and teaching assistant/research assistant scholarship from FIU. Her hobbies are reading, writing, listening to music and singing, sightseeing and cooking.
