Biografía:
I am a distinguished researcher and educator at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), Durban, South Africa. My career is marked by a deep commitment to advancing knowledge within the national and transnational African context, fostering intellectual growth, and promoting human capital development. With extensive experience in teaching, supervision, and research within the humanities and social sciences, I have significantly contributed to academic excellence in South Africa and beyond. I am a recipient of the prestigious Association of African Universities (AAU) Fellowship. I hold a Doctor of Philosophy degree in International Relations from UKZN. My academic journey includes a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and a Master's degree in History and Strategic Studies from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, earned in 2006 and 2010, respectively. Further enriching my expertise, I have obtained certifications in Global Diplomacy and Moral Foundation of Politics from the University of London and Yale University. My research interests lie at the intersection of strategic studies, international relations, migration, and gender studies. My niche focuses on the experiences of women in migration and their influence on policymaking at both private and public levels. As an emerging scholar, I have published extensively in book chapters and peer-reviewed journals, contributing original scholarship to global academic conversations. Additionally, I have also served as a reviewer for reputable journals, demonstrating my intellectual rigour and commitment to academic excellence. I have presented my research findings at various international conferences and served as moderator in some sessions, collaborating with scholars and practitioners from diverse disciplines and cultural backgrounds. These experiences have honed my ability to convey complex ideas effectively and work efficiently within interdisciplinary and multicultural teams. In teaching and learning, I have designed and delivered courses in economic history, political science, and international relations at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. My teaching portfolio includes globalisation, global political economy, arms control, capitalism, and development studies. Recognised as a learner-centred academic, I employ innovative pedagogical techniques to address the complexities of teaching in South Africa's multi-racial and diverse educational system. My efforts have garnered positive feedback from students and colleagues, underscoring my ability to bridge gaps in scholarship and adapt to varied educational contexts. At the School of Social Sciences, I have been acknowledged for my intellectual competence and versatility in applying pedagogical skills to diverse academic contexts. Beyond teaching, I have supervised the successful completion of five honours students and four master's students at UKZN and ESCAE University, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. My dedication to mentorship underscores my commitment to shaping the next generation of scholars. My career is a testament to my advanced research skills, critical thinking abilities, and unwavering commitment to expanding the frontiers of scholarship. With my expertise in field and textual research methodologies, I continue to contribute meaningfully to academic discourse, fostering an environment of intellectual curiosity and scholarly achievement.
