Biografía:
Otuto Amarauche Chukwu is a PhD candidate in Health Policy at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto. He is a licensed pharmacist and multiple award-winning scholar and Social Impact Innovator with over a decade’s experience in health systems strengthening and policy research. Otuto has engaged in various academic and community leadership endeavors, including supporting the Lancet Commission on Cancer and Health systems, winning several research grants, and publishing several impactful papers in high-impact academic journals. He has also presented many components of his research in various conferences including in countries like Canada, Australia, Switzerland, Japan, and South Africa. He has won several awards and scholarships. He is a Vanier scholar (2023); an International Development Research Centre Scholar (2023); a Junior Fellow at Massey College (2022); the 2023 winner of the Michael Decter award for Health Leadership and Policy in Canada; the Emerging Academic Award, the Gown Awards, University of Toronto (2024); and the 40 under 40 Public Health Catalyst Awards 2024 from the Boston Congress of Public Health USA which recognizes the next generation of leaders who inspire and catalyze us all to a more just and equitable world, amongst several other awards. He co-founded a non profit foundation, El Echad Foundation (https://elechadfoundation.org/), through which he has empowered many communities through advocacy and interventions for inclusion, and improved access to education and economic opportunities to fight hunger, poverty, and societal ills. Many of these projects have also been featured by the media, lending credence to the importance and impact of this work.
